Alon David, CEO of 90x Planners on the Pillars to Effective Goal-Setting

Episode Summary

Alon David, CEO and Founder of 90x Planners, the premier planner of successful entrepreneurs and business owners, talks about the necessary pillars to an effective goal-setting strategy.

Episode Notes

Alon David immigrated to America with nothing but pure ambition. Longing to make something of his life, and unwilling to settle for picking up garbage and low-wage manual labor, he set a goal to become a successful photographer. With his new vision he took messy action to make it happen.

What he found as he tried to find systems to help him stay on track towards his goal would change the course of his life. The planners on the market didn't really work for him so he created his own. This new planning system was exactly what he needed to hold himself accountable to his vision and he was able to turn his photography business into a 6 figure side-hustle.

What started out as a way to reach his own goals lit a fire in him to want to do the same for others. This is when he pivoted to his current business providing the world's most successful entrepreneurs their planner of choice and coaching people to achieve their goals. Today 90x planners are available in over 100 countries and is used by over 118,000 entrepreneurs and business owners.

3 TAKE-AWAYS FROM TODAY'S EPISODE

1) Having a strong why will help you keep momentum towards your goals.

2) The reason people don't ever really get started is because they try to hold theirselves accountable and it is easy to let yourself off the hook. Look to a mentor, coach, parent, or friend to keep you focused on your why.

3) After you cast your vision, you must figure out what type of person would have what you envision and embody that person. Be that person now! Act as they would act. Think as they would think.

ACTION STEP

Sit down with your teen and open the discussion about goals. This could be done over dinner or on a long car ride. Just make sure you lead with your own story about goal-setting. Talk about why it matters, what small action step you can take right now to move in the right direction, and brainstorm with them what type of person they would need to be to make that happen. For example, if they want to improve their math grade, what type of student gets an A? It's probably someone who seeks help when they need it, solves extra problems to gain mastery, and they probably study in advance rather than cramming the night before. Help your teen to see that they can choose to be that person now by just starting to do those things and by thinking like an A-student.
